Next Entry: How To Keep Your Resolutions
A Weekend of Food, Alcohol, Music, and Good Vibes
I was going berserk making sure kitchen towels and garbage bags were in its right place.
My phone was going berserk coz I gave everyone some DaVinci Code map to get to my place.
I have never hosted a party of this magnitude before.
Good thing the 60+ guests were darlings! How do I know?
You know you’ve invited the right people when
- They bring more alcohol than they can drink
- They bring food and snacks people actually eat
- They bring females along to balance the “head” count
- They stay back for the cleanup
- They keep their smoke to the designated smokers zone
Special thanks to MindValley.com for donating for the bulk of the alcohol, dinner and ice-cream, and those of you who brought pasta, pizza, chocolate, cartons of beer, bottles of alcohol, junk food, and most importantly, the good vibes!
And a super special thanks goes out to our singer-songwriter performers!
We had a total of 8 diverse acts in my living room, playing to an attentive audience. They played 2 to 3 songs each, but I’m only uploading one song from each performer.
We opened with the veteran Reza Salleh to ensure the audience will have a good first impression.
Sunsets With You - Reza Salleh
Then, Kenneth Yu came in to get the crowd rolling on the floor with his brand of rude, outlandish comedy rock.
You’re So Disgusting - Kenneth Yu
To put the pieces of the audience back together, ChitSoon whipped out his haunting melodies and unique vocal talents.
The Way You Are - ChitSoon
Then came next shocker for the night: I exposed the crowd to crazy, careless, dreamy and angry emo stuff. I fully abuse my licence to emote! This is my latest song.
Morning Divide - Khailee
After the first session, we had a 15 minute chit-chat, ciggy, and toilet break, to return with the co-host of the party, Yu-Ri! Here is his most popular heart-melting hit.
Red Dress - Yu-Ri
I was particularly impressed by Bobo, who turned smooth R&B vocals and jazzy chords into easy-listening love songs. Great songwriting here!
Malam Ini - Bobo
The last 2 acts were Paolo Defino and a trio from Dire Dilemmas. They were really good, too, but I can’t seem to upload proper footage of their songs. Maybe the tape was faulty. I’ll try again tomorrow.
Pictures of the lovely, attentive audience

Some of the people at the party

The Afterparty
There were 3 pockets of people, with a guitar in each group. They were singing along to popular hits, and mumbling gibberish lyrics they only vaguely remember.
Finished Food!
Not! There’s much more at the back.
Cleanup Champions!
I love Mervin & Fiza! My high-school buddies were the last to go home, and the most supportive of the cleanup rescue mission.
Click here for some more pictures.
I wish I had taken more photos though. Too busy being paranoid about keeping clean and giving directions. Please email me or upload pictures of the night you may have?
The next time I throw a party like this, it’ll be twice the size! Stay tuned! And thanks again to all of you who were part of this legend.
